I see the hooks.
I get tangled for a few moments sometimes, too.
I am increasingly dumbfounded and
troubled
to see intelligent,
apparently conscious people posting material on socials
with zero basis in any factual reality.
I’m not talking about the bottom feeders or clickbait
but things being posted by Facebook friends who have years of inner work.
Intelligent, loving people.
Well-intentioned.
The text and videos
are getting more and more outrageous.
Most troubling is that now
- in this age of untruth-
it is becoming a practice not even to attempt to quote valid sources.
And comments are often taking these extreme posts at total face value,
with little or no objective questioning.
Add to the disturbing nature
of an apparently complete absence of discernment
is a justification I’ve seen posted.
“I post what I want to be true and that will make it (come) true. “
That is delusion.
Tautological logic.
And dangerous.
A world of difference from inspirational writing,
supporting universal values such as care, wellbeing, honesty.
But of course, these are exactly the tactics of the disruptive systems.
Bombarding the population with “information”.
Misinformation.
And multiple contradictory narratives.
The veracity is irrelevant.
It’s exercises in mass brainwashing and control.
In disempowerment.
Discernment is empowerment.
Many are realizing to some degree the global extremes,
the moves to authoritarian societies,
and at least suspect that exponentially accelerating AI has serious dangers.
Yet in true human fashion,
we can be blind to our own hooks and complicity.
I am dismayed and concerned, which is why I’m naming it.
I’m naming it outside of any “side” or content.
That is not the point here.
If we know better,
if we have spiritual solidity,
emotional maturity
and any wisdom,
we can and need to DO better.
To act differently.
To be the change.
To be part of creating the more beautiful world we know is possible.
If you are someone interested
in being more conscious,
present,
alive,
sane
and healthy
do not abandon discernment.
Be willing to face our fantasies
and the deep discomfort of not knowing.
Whatever one believes, or doesn’t,
do not give up our inner radical inquiry.
Turn back to the inner compass
that will not lie.
You will not find that online.
Externally, if you really feel called to contribute,
commit to your own research
that is as robust as it can be when AI can create videos, images, text for ANYTHING.
Or perhaps wait, get quiet.
Plug in to the original web,
before and forever after any of “this”.
This is a new world
where the rules and signposts are changing faster than the weather.
Find yourself.
And in this,
we call each other to a truer home.
~ My lifelong experience and dedication are in waking up and walking in this life, eyes and heart open, feet on the ground, connected to the stars. In other words, to come home. My first book “Coming Home” is available, while the second is being lived and written. I facilitate group meditation and transformational events and guide one to one.
