Who am I?
I am so grateful to all my new subscribers and want to take this opportunity to share a little about who I am, writing “The Extraordinary Ordinary”.
I also sum up this month’s writing for you to enjoy.
Who am I?
That eternal question.
I am a Scottish woman who, from childhood, felt a persisting sense of wonder at existing on this planet alongside a quiet and equally persistent unbelonging. The girl who knew at 16 that she would uproot and live in a wildly different landscape.
She did not know it would be 40 years later. In 2018, I got on a plane, a single parent, with four of my five children to start a new life in Northern California.
At 16, she also did not know that two years later she would become a mother.
This journey of mothering, with often challenging and unconventional paths with five very different beings, is a core of what puts me together. My second book, currently in process, is on this topic.
A core is also my experience of severe illness. My health collapsed in my late twenties, and I was extremely ill for 6 years, latterly in a wheelchair. I know what it is like to be unable to walk, wash, dress, be with friends, concentrate, create or speak productively. I know what it’s like to have my life stripped away, to be in continual pain.
I also know total recovery.
That descent into the body was the start of a path of awakening to truth and what it is to live as this, as love, in a human body.
This is a discovery that exists right here and simultaneously is infinite.
Right now, this body is pulling me closer. Or is it my soul, through the cells and blood and breath?
I am in another cycle of powerful health challenges – different shapes – but I do know they are calling me closer to the heart of my truth and how to be here. Or not. So, forgive me if I am occasionally less consistent. I always have to follow the natural current, not the manufactured agendas.
From an earlier background in adult learning, academia, and non-profit work, for almost three decades, I have been assisting people with healing, awakening, and guiding and walking with them in shifting and embodying more of our unlimited consciousness. I especially focus on group meditation experiences, harnessing the exponential power of resonance and coherence to support more of us in our unique and interconnected evolution. My unique orientation includes three core elements – non-dual awareness, multi-dimensional energy work, and gentle somatic integration into all aspects of body-being.
I’d love to hear from you. We are connected. We are community.
What’s alive in your world? What speaks to you from this space and my writing?
This month’s picks
Here are a few selected pieces I’d like to share with you, dear subscriber. All are free.
When there are no words is a short piece on finding the authetic creative flow.
Can we remember what it is to watch each other’s breath,
to soften the grasp,
to endure the inevitable opening of nothingness
into This?
Practices in True Living - reflections larger than any marker on being truly in our lives.
Truth is love in action, tending to the movements of now as it weaves the great sweeps of the Cosmos.
I’ve been on Notes more than long essays this month, not least because my energy has been so limited, but also because I love connecting with community and discovering new writers there. Here is one of my favourites.
Themes
A line from a poem by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer has been a signpost, as poetry can often be for me. Perhaps for you, too, whatever the circumstances moving.
“to be ridiculously courageous in love”
This is the way home.

What’s ahead
I write from the ground of this life on what it means to be awake and present in a human body. My book, “Coming Home,” is a collection of prose and poetry, curated over ten years of my journey. It’s a companion to the path of living a life of embodied love as an awakening human. It’s available on Amazon, where it has all five-star reviews! Thank you, and look out for an audio version in 2026.
I am working on my second memoir-based book, along with a book of poetry.
Beyond the words
My lifelong experience and dedication are in waking up and walking in this life, eyes and heart open, feet on the ground, connected to the stars.
In other words, to come home.
For over twenty-five years, in evolving ways, I have been serving as guide, mentor, and ally in the incredible journey of embodying awakening and living in full-spectrum authenticity.
I am a consciousness shifter; transformational soul coach and healer; embodied awakening guide; frequency transmitter and explorer of what it is to live awake, free and loving. I lead group events, personal mentorship and sessions, meditations, energy work, authentic meeting, consciousness-shifting coaching, and inquiry. I am on Insight Timer most weeks with free healing group meditations, and my YouTube and site have lots of meditation resources. Find personal sessions, events, and meditations here. Or join the email list to stay connected.
